George Haywood, a member of the Houston Elite track club, won his first ever world championship medal on Wednesday March 3rd 2010. George took 3rd in the mens 55-59 age bracket in the 200m dash. It was an exciting race as George came off the final turn in 4th, putting on a late charge at the end, and great lean, which resulted in a fall at the tape, but it was all worth it as he was declared the 3rd place finish after review of the photo finsh.
We all are very proud of George, and wish him the very best in the rest of the meet, as he will be competing in the 400 meter dash finals on Saturday and as a member of the USA 4X200 meter relay team.
